Established in 2006, the School of International Education (the School in short) is a specialized secondary college at Xuchang University dedicated to Sino-foreign cooperative education. Over the past two decades, it has leveraged the University’s excellent educational resources to vigorously introduce high-quality overseas educational resources and adopt advanced international educational concepts. Through substantive cooperative education with foreign universities, the School is committed to cultivating high-caliber, globally-minded, and interdisciplinary professionals.
Over the past decade, the School has consistently adhered to the educational philosophy of “integrating Chinese and Western education, prioritizing character building, standardizing management, and ensuring quality.” Driven by the goal of providing high-quality international education, we have tirelessly sought to leverage premium educational resources and adopt advanced international concepts from both home and abroad. The School has established long-term partnerships with numerous renowned universities in Canada, the United States, Russia, the UK, and beyond. By continuously introducing high-quality overseas educational resources and advanced teaching management practices, we have developed distinctive international educational features. Today, the School’s development speed and scale rank among the top in the province, setting a pioneering example for Sino-foreign cooperative education among local and neighboring universities.
In recent years, more than 100 outstanding students have traveled to over 10 countries and regions, including the UK, the US, Russia, and Hong Kong, for further studies or summer camps. The School has seen continuous growth in students’ postgraduate entrance English exam pass rates, enrollments in domestic and international graduate programs, and high-quality employment. Since 2023, 264 students have been admitted to master’s programs at home and abroad, and 119 graduates have secured positions in civil service, State Grid, and other prestigious organizations.
The quality of talent cultivation continues to improve. Students have won over 300 national-level awards in prestigious competitions, including the National Marketing Competition, the Lanqiao Cup National Software and Information Technology Professional Talent Competition, the China University Cheerleading Championships, and the Data Mining Challenge. Furthermore, one-third of our students have obtained various professional qualification certificates, such as Corporate Human Resources Professional, Marketing Planner, Accounting Professional Technical Qualification Certificate, and Teacher Qualification Certificate.
Graduates’ comprehensive qualities are highly regarded by employers both domestically and internationally, with the employment rate for all majors consistently remaining above 90%. Upholding the fundamental task of moral education and character building, the School has seen its students awarded numerous provincial honors such as “Model Three-Good Student of Henan Universities,” “Model CPC Member Student of Henan Province,” “Civilized Student of Henan Province,” “Civilized Dormitory of Henan Province,” and “Civilized Netizen of Henan Province.” Students’ inspiring stories have been featured by major media outlets including Dahe.cn, People’s Consulting Network, and the “Xuexi Qiangguo” platform, further enhancing the School’s social influence and reputation.
The School boasts a highly qualified faculty with a well-balanced structure in academic degrees and professional titles, demonstrating strong capabilities in both teaching and research. Currently, the School has 88 full-time and part-time teachers, including 4 with senior (full) titles, 19 with associate senior titles, and 36 with intermediate titles. Among them, 10 are recognized as “dual-qualified” teachers (possessing both academic and professional industry qualifications). Additionally, our partner universities dispatch over 30 professional faculty members annually. Through our cooperative education platform, we have jointly developed over 100 distinctive courses, including all-English and online courses.
Since 2020, faculty members have led 51 research projects and published 38 academic papers, including 2 in SCI journals and 2 in EI journals. During the same period, 10 faculty members have won awards in various teaching skills and applied curriculum design competitions at all levels. While prioritizing professional competence, the School also places great emphasis on teacher ethics and professional conduct. In recent years, 9 teachers have been honored as “Top Ten Models of Teacher Ethics” at the university level, and over 80 have been recognized as “Advanced Individuals in Teacher Ethics.”
The School is guided by a strong, united, and highly effective leadership team, and supported by an experienced and dedicated student management team. Our work in Party building and ideological and political education is highly distinctive. Notably, the “Semester Life Report and Defense System for College Student Party Members” has been recognized as a “Grassroots Party Building Innovation Project in Henan Universities.”
The School has been awarded numerous collective honors, including “National Vibrant Youth League Branch,” “Advanced Grassroots Party Organization of Henan Province,” “Henan May Fourth Red Banner Youth League General Branch,” “Advanced Unit for Student Work” (University-level), and “Advanced Collective in Learning from Lei Feng.” Meanwhile, counselors of the School have achieved outstanding results in professional competitions, winning the Grand Prize in the “Henan Provincial College Counselor Competency Competition,” as well as Grand Prizes and First Prizes in the “Xuchang University College Counselor Competency Competition.”
At this pivotal stage of strategic planning for the “15th Five-Year Plan,” the School of International Education consistently adheres to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as its fundamental guideline. We are committed to advancing connotative construction with a higher stance, a broader vision, and a stronger sense of responsibility. Looking ahead, the School will continue to deepen educational and teaching reforms, comprehensively enhance the quality of internationalized talent cultivation, and make solid contributions to the national strategies of building a leading education and talent powerhouse.
