On the morning of March 27, 2025, Dr. Jie Liu, Dean of the School of Computer Science and Tenured Professor at Western Oregon University (WOU in short), paid an official visit to the School of International Education at the invitation of International Exchange and Cooperation Department, Xuchang University. The visit culminated in a high-level academic symposium centering on the theme of “AI Will Shape All of Our Future: Learn to Embrace the Inevitable”.

The event was chaired by Associate Dean Chen Hao of the School of International Education, with participation from faculty members of the Science and Engineering Teaching and Research Division and student representatives from the Digital Media Technology Program among other attendees.

In the symposium, Dr. Jie Liu delineated the global AI development roadmap while highlighting the key concepts of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), Foundation Models (FM), and Large Language Models (LLM). When it comes to the future development of AI, Dr. Jie Liu shared his opinion on Quantum Computing (QC), Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and the potential application of AI in space exploration.

During the interactive session, Dr. Jie Liu had an in-depth dialogue with the participants on the latest advancements and future development trends in AI technology concerning its practical application.
