On the morning of June 20, the School of International Education (the School in short) successfully held the returning students’ meeting for the 2025 Bellevue University (BU in short) short-term exchange program in Conference Room B4-111. The meeting was attended by Wang Huiwan, Deputy Party Secretary of the School, Chen Hao, Vice Dean of the School, Zhan Donghong, Deputy Director of the Scientific Innovation Teaching and Research Office. The attendees engaged in in-depth discussions with the returning students. The meeting was presided over by Vice Dean Chen Hao.
During the meeting, students who participated in the exchange program at Bellevue University in the U.S. shared detailed accounts of their academic and daily life experiences abroad. They particularly highlighted how the university’s diverse extracurricular activities — including intercollegiate volleyball tournaments, creative card-making workshops, and American-style birthday parties — gave them profound insights into the differences between Chinese and Western campus cultures.
The most unforgettable experience was their firsthand participation in the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting hosted by Warren Buffett in his hometown of Omaha. Although the English-only global financial analysis sessions proved challenging, the electrifying atmosphere of this world-class event left them deeply impressed.
One student reflectively remarked, “This is not just an immersive finance lesson, but more importantly, a life-changing experience that broadens our horizons.”
Addressing students’ practical concerns regarding credit transfer and expense reimbursement, Ms Zhan provided detailed explanations by referencing the Implementation Guidelines for Credit Transfer of Spring 2025 Exchange Students at the School of International Education and Xuchang University Funding Policy for Study Abroad Programs at Partner Foreign Institutions. She ensured that each student’s international academic achievements would receive full recognition.
Vice Dean Chen Hao emphasized the School’s commitment to continually optimize its “Study Abroad Support Initiative” to provide comprehensive services for international exchange students.
In her concluding remarks, Deputy Party Secretary Wang Huiwan noted with satisfaction the students’ marked improvement in cross-cultural adaptability and critical thinking. She encouraged them to transform their overseas experiences into catalysts for personal growth.
This faculty-student meeting not only demonstrated the educational achievements of the university’s “Internationalization Initiative” in education, but also contributed to building a platform for future experience sharing.
